We are pleased that you stopped by to visit the site. We carry quality lampwork beads and art glass beads and jewelry. All items are designed and hand-crafted by glass artist Christy Trevino in her Tallahassee, Florida studio.
WHAT IS LAMPWORKING?
Lampworking or lampwork is the term used for the molding of molten glass in an open flame or torch. It is a companion art to glass blowing. When making beads, a lampworker winds the molten glass around a metal rod called a mandrel. The glass is then shaped and decorated as the artist desires. The bead is "annealed" (or baked) in a kiln at close to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The annealing process give the glass strength and durability. After annealing, the bead is cleaned of any residuals from its creation. The result is a small, unique and beautiful work of art that will last for years to come.
